Why when I try to add music through Winamp to my iPod does Winamp crash?

I just downloaded winamp to my windows 7 machine. I did lite installation but added ipod support in the options. I opted out of just about everything in the instal that I could, including winamp agent and toolbars and junk. I plug in the ipod, I can see all my music. When I drag an mp3 into the library a statusbar pops up that says "Finding Metadata" and then windows lets me know that winamp has stopped working, What could be causing this snag?
